The exhibition «Transgressions d’un dessinateur de BD» aims to highlight the particularities of a comic strip and a sketch by juxtaposing them to break the monotony.

To do this, ROLAND DAIGLE uses illustrations from his comic strip, "Alerte à Richibouctou", and his "sketches of the day". In fact, every morning, the cartoonist spends time drawing his "sketch of the day" on his electronic tablet. These are drawings that are only meant to please the eye, without following any specific rules. His sketches are often based on themes used in comics, but do not have a continuous story, giving the viewer the opportunity to use their imagination to interpret them.

In contrast, the illustrations from his comic book "Alerte à Richibouctou" are more studied and rigid. They required two years of work. Scenes initially drawn in pencil were digitally redone to arrive at the final product. The cartoonist adapted his style to be more conceptual in his line and his intention.

“Each panel was drawn and redrawn many times. Sometimes I had to use hundreds of layers.”

For ROLAND DAIGLE, comics are an art form that can encourage pride in the French language and everyday Acadian heroes.
