Edmundston, N.B., Monday January 20th, 2025 – The Centre des arts La petite église is proud to present “De l’instinct à l’émergence” (From Instinct to Emergence), the first public exhibition by artist Valérie R. Durand. Her works will be on display on the 2nd floor of the Centre des arts, from February 3 to April 4, 2025.

The exhibition “De l’instinct à l’émergence” showcases an artistic approach that is deeply intuitive and filled with sensitivity. Through an abstract lens, Valérie R. Durand spontaneously explores emotions and impressions of the present moment. Using a variety of supports such as canvases, cotton sheets, or papers, and a range of mediums including acrylic, watercolor, ink, and pastels, she creates works that establish a rich dialogue between material and moment. Each painting is born from a process where instinct drives the initial gestures, allowing creative energy and the emotions of the moment to fully express themselves.

Originally from St-Basile, New Brunswick, Valérie discovered her love for art at a young age when her father, a graphic designer, gave her a drawing table at the age of six. After taking a break from her artistic practice, she returned to painting, making creativity a central part of her life again, and developing a unique and personal style.

This first exhibition offers the public a rare opportunity to immerse themselves in the creative world of Valérie R. Durand. Each piece invites an intimate experience, encouraging visitors to engage in their own dialogue with the displayed works.
