The Centre des arts d’Edmundston launches a youth arts mentorship programme

PRESS RELEASE

For immediate release

Edmundston, May 28, 2025 – The Centre des arts d’Edmundston is proud to announce the launch of a new arts mentorship program for youth and emerging artists. We gratefully acknowledge the vital support of the Sheila Hugh Mackay Foundation.

This programme will provide unique opportunities for experimentation, artistic development, and knowledge sharing, encouraging young people to pursue higher education and/or professionalization in the visual arts. It will also encourage a sense of belonging to the region and raise community awareness of the importance of arts education

We have noticed a strong interest in the visual arts among young people in our region. We are convinced that this programme will provide an excellent opportunity to encourage young people to develop their artistic skills, to persevere in their efforts, and to support the next generation of local artists on their journey.

We invite aspiring artists, young artists, and emerging talents to apply to ensure their participation in the programme. This is part of a process of professionalization and is also a way of opening up the conversation through an introduction.

A calendar of sessions will offer a full range of workshop courses exploring various artistic mediums and approaches, as well as art history lessons, with a particular focus on the North West-Madawaska region and the province of New Brunswick. This programme will also develop the creation of a portfolio and all forms of personalized mentoring to meet individuals’ different needs.

Emerging artists wishing to pursue studies and/or a career in the visual arts will meet professional artists from the province. It is a kind of preparation for art school.

Offering advanced training workshops in arts education to young and emerging individuals in our region is a long-term investment in the vitality of our community and province, strengthening community ties and fostering a lasting exchange of knowledge between generations.

The application form is available HERE and must be submitted before June 13, 23:59 (AST) 2025.
