PRESS RELEASE
For immediate release

Edmundston, August 28, 2025 – The Centre des arts d’Edmundston is proud to officially launch its brand new youth and emerging arts mentorship program, which will run from September to December 2025. The program will conclude with a group exhibition, which will open on January 22, 2026, at the Arts Centre’s Professional Gallery.

We are proud to welcome 20 young people and emerging artists from the region to this first cohort. Throughout the program, they will receive special guidance from eight professional artists from New Brunswick: Rotchild Choisy, Danielle Hogan, Christina Thomson, Emilie Grace Lavoie, David Champagne, Paul Édouard Bourque, Anne-Marie Sirois, and Vicky Lentz.

This program, made possible thanks to the essential support of the Sheila Hugh Mackay Foundation, offers practical workshops, individual mentoring sessions, and training on various aspects of professionalization in the arts. Participants will explore different media, enrich their artistic approach, and develop their portfolios while deepening their knowledge of art history and contemporary practices.

“We believe that investing in youth and emerging artists is investing in the cultural future of our region and our province,” said Annie Côté, director of the Centre des arts d’Edmundston. “This program is a unique opportunity for transmission and sharing, where the experience of established artists meets the creative energy of the next generation. ”

The opening on January 22 will mark the culmination of this initiative, presenting the works produced by young and emerging artists as part of the program to the general public.

The Centre des arts d’Edmundston invites the community to follow this inspiring journey and come celebrate the creativity, perseverance, and future of the visual arts in our region.
